James Thorley. Grad Dip Couns, MBACP.
14 Howard Street
Hi my name is James, I am a fully qualified counsellor and a member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with a wide variety of clients with many different issues.
I work in The Person-centered model of counselling which offers an empathic, confidential and non-judgmental space where your emotions can be explored in safety. I believe that you are your own expert and will not offer advice or a list of things that you should be doing, but will help you to find the answers within yourself.
The decision to enter therapy can be daunting, needing courage and a willingness to explore sometimes
difficult feelings and memories, so what you choose to bring to therapy is your own decision and you will
never be judged or pressured to work with anything other than what you choose to consider to be important to your journey. My part in the counselling relationship is to accept who you are and your story so far, travelling with you and supporting you as we explore to find the answers you are looking for.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at South Cheshire College in association with Manchester Metropolitan University where I gained Level 2 and 3 certificates in counselling, HE certificate and Graduate Diploma in Person-centered counselling.
As part of my private practice in also provide counselling for a well known mental health charity in Stoke-on-Trent, a Wrexham based drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and a secondary school working with 12 to 16 year old clients. I have current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance, and have an up-to date Child Safeguarding Certificate.
I abide to the BACP ethical framework to offer the best service possible.
