Hi, my name is James and I'm a fully qualified and accredited counsellor but perhaps the thing that really marks me out as different is the thorough grounding in Psychology that I've had which compliments my psychotherapeutic counselling diploma. I have both a Psychology degree (passed with 1st class honours) and a masters degree in Social Psychology meaning that there is real psychological knowledge and depth underpinning my counselling methods.
I can help with many issues but I specialise in helping people to find ways of dealing with anxiety and with lifting themselves out of depression. You would not be alone in this as more and more people are struggling with depression and anxiety nowadays, so much so that this seems to be almost the norm and I want to help you find a way through. Perhaps you feel isolated and lonely or are struggling with a relationship turned sour? As a social psychologist, I am also well versed in matters surrounding the creation and maintenance of healthy social relationships.
Though I am trained in many technical methods, what really matters is that my approach is carefully tailored to fit you as an individual and as such is largely person centred. I can, of course, offer you a safe, comfortable environment to explore any issues in which you will not feel judged or labelled. You may have noticed that much in psychotherapy is designed to treat the symptoms rather than the person in an attempt to quickly ‘fix’ what is supposedly wrong with you so that you can get back to ‘coping’ with life. I like to go a little further than that and am interested to work with you in finding a way that you might come to accept yourself fully, to find your own meaning or purpose in life and subsequently even fulfilment and happiness.
If you are ready to take the first step why not give me a call or, if that seems a little scary, send an e-mail or text message to arrange a consultation.
