About me

Individual Counselling

To know and transform oneself takes a willingness to be in an honest enquiry into the roots, structures and patterns that make up our decisions and beliefs.

What helps on this journey of discovery is a personal relationship with a skilled guide that is grounded in trust and intimacy. This relationship is a powerful tool to unlock the needed self knowledge to change the stuck spaces we live in. From this deeper self awareness we are able to find the strength to succeed in career and relationships.

Our aim is to become a whole person, one who is able to function with a depth of love and understanding.

Couples Counselling

In couples counselling our aim is to look honestly upon what we bring to our relationship, taking active steps towards understanding each other in a respectful way. In facilitating these important discussions I have helped many couples with communication problems, affairs, loss of intimacy & desire, divorce, and loss of direction in long-term relationships.

You will be encouraged to avoid blame and take responsibility; working issues through together as a couple in a safe, calm and creative way. I will help you recognise your relationships strengths and weaknesses and your responsibilities moving forward. (Please see my website blog - "How to Benefit from Couples Counselling" for more info about what to expect)
                                  ______________________________________________

I am fully qualified and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have over 11 years experience working with a diverse range of people in organisations, hospitals, education and privately. I have gained extensive training in person-centred, psychodynamic, couples, existential and mindfulness based counselling and psychotherapy. I have also studied eastern philosophy and have practiced meditation for over 12 years.

Next Steps

Please feel free to call, email or text so we can arrange an informal chat. I can then call you at a time that suits you. A telephone call that will be roughly 20-minutes and will give you a good idea of how I can help you and if I am the right therapist for you. It is really important that you feel comfortable working with me and if you feel we don't 'click' then I will be happy to provide you with referrals to other therapists.

I offer a reduced rate for your first session. Please scroll down to the fees section for details.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Resolution of Shame and Trauma, mindfulness and meditation coaching, creativity, personal growth and transformation, spirituality, LGBT issues.

I have studied Mindfulness and incorporate this into my therapeutic approach. Mindfulness invites us to live less in our heads - where we ruminate over the past and worry about the future, which can lead to depression, anxiety and related difficulties - It is far better for our mental heath that we spend time being present, in the present we are able to experience more freedom, peace, creativity and well-being. If you would like to learn these mindfulness skills (and anyone can learn them!), I can help you do this.
