I have a background in the arts and developed an interest in therapeutic work through my involvement in Mental Health. I hold a strong belief in the connection between our feeling self and our need for self expression. As a Full Member of UKCP I adhere to their code of conduct and professional ethics.
I offer a safe confidential space where the person can tell their story and express difficult feelings which may have been long suppressed.
I began training in 1996 and have continued to be curious to learn more as my practice has developed. I value the Humanistic approach grounded in conditions of empathy, relational presence and mutual respect. I work integratively honouring my initial psychodynamic training as well as my experience of Core Process, an approach based on Buddhist psychology, and more recent training in Attachment Informed Therapy and Gestalt Contemporary Trauma training.
I believe the relationship is of paramount importance in the work of therapy and can be supported by a quality if mindfulness that brings awareness and presence to how we are impacted on and responding to each moment.
I live 8 miles west of Launceston and offer therapy on a short term or longer term basis depending on each client's need at my home. I see clients weekdays, evenings and some weekends.
Getting Started. I understand that it can be difficult to take the first step especially if this is the first time you have sought counselling. It's not too hard! You can call or email me to set up an initial session. You can tell me what it is you want to get out of counselling and I will listen, then if you want to continue once you have met me, we can arrange further sessions on a weekly/fortnightly basis. I look forward to hearing from you.
