About me

I am a BACP registered psychodynamic and mindfulness based counsellor. My work is guided by our Ethical Framework for Good Practice. This means I will show the utmost respect, honor the trust you place in me, maintain your confidentiality, and always act with your best interests in mind. I’m also fully insured and I have regular clinical supervision and ongoing training to ensure my work is of a high standard.

Perspective

Experience has taught me that having a safe, secure place to talk things through with someone who we feel we can trust can reframe one's perception if things and can move ourselves beyond our habitual ways of viewing life and see beyond the things that can hold us back.

If you are feeling struggling or confused, a safe place to feel heard can help us to understand our thoughts and feelings that often go unheard or unnoticed. This can enable self-understanding and personal positive change.

Face to face and online counselling therapy

During our counselling sessions I aim enable you to explore personal difficulty that you may be experiencing, with the focus that over time you can make changes that will help you to cope and feel better. I believe that our past can affect our present and sometimes we are not consciously aware of what is influencing us. It is important that we can form a partnership and that you feel comfortable and able to trust me, so that you can talk about the things that matter to you.

I have been working as a counsellor for 15 years within a variety of settings including charitable organisations, private health and counselling for young people. I am currently working privately online and from home. I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their professional codes of conduct which are designed to make sure that you, the client gets a safe and ethical service.

Face to face counselling

Meeting face to face for counselling therapy offers a safe and confidential shared space in which we can work together. A face to face situation offers the opportunity to work with creative materials and process which is sometimes very helpful.

What is online counselling?

There are many different forms of online counselling. I offer three ways of working; Zoom (video platform) email and instant messaging. With Zoom I will invite you via email to join a meeting with me. This will be confidential and will, like face to face counselling last 1 hour unless we agree a shorter meeting. We will try to meet at the same time each week.

Cost

My fee for counselling is £45 per session and I will ask you to pay the money into my account using Pay Pal in advance of sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
