Qualifications and experience
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist, and registered member of BACP, offering counselling, psychotherapy and supervision in Mickleover, Derby. I have over 20 years experience of helping a wide range of people with variety of emotional problems.
How counselling can help you
Counselling and psychotherapy offer the opportunity to talk confidentially, to be listened to attentively without being judged, and to receive help in seeing problems and their place in life, more clearly. When difficulties are better understood, change becomes easier. 'Counselling' is sometimes used to describe short term work focussing on a particular problem, whilst 'psychotherapy' usually describes a more wide ranging exploration of issues, in greater depth.
How I work
I will listen to you and help you to identify your problem areas, coping strategies and any unhelpful patterns of behaviour. I use an Integrative approach, combining transpersonal, psychodynamic and cognitive theories and techniques (CBT). Sometimes I might work with imagery or drawing, or explore the underlying significance of physical symptoms to help people become more aware of themselves and their response to situations and to others. I adapt my style of working to each individual and their needs.
