About me

I provide a warm, non-judgemental, caring and attentive environment where you can talk in absolute confidence.

My philosophy is a humanistic approach which means that I believe everybody has the capacity to grow towards their own unique identity and reach their own potential. I encourage my clients to talk about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. I believe that everyone has the resources necessary to know what is best for them, my job is to help you in understanding more about yourself and in turn reach that potential.

I have been lucky enough to support hundreds of clients over the years and understanding yourself is the key to the work, it is so easy to be critical and lose sight of who we are. Counselling can be the homecoming.

As a recent client of mine expressed:

"Saying things out loud is much more beneficial then just thinking them. Counselling has given me a better understanding of who I am and why I respond to certain situations. By exploring my thoughts and feelings counselling has given me the awareness to make changes to my life, but also to be more accepting of myself. I now feel able to move my life forward. For the first time in years I feel I can reach my own personal potential".

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
