About me

I am a Psychotherapist (UKCP accredited) working with individuals promoting mental wellbeing. My practice in Canary Wharf is a 3/4 min walk from West India Quay and Westferry DLR stations. I also offer sessions online/virtual via Zoom.

I will work with you to make meaning of your internal struggles to understand them better by identifying their root causes. This is a collaborative process where I will provide you with a safe, non-judgemental space to explore your inner world and presenting issues. I believe strongly that therapy is a two-way process between client and therapist.

Together we will design the therapeutic journey that is best suited for you. My role is to work with you to identify the most helpful shifts in thinking or behaviour and support you in the process of making changes. We may agree simple tasks or thinking to be done between sessions.

I have experience with and can help you to explore many conditions and concerns, including - but not limited to - low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, sexuality, intersectionality, identity, bereavement, grief, anger management, LGBTQI+/GSRD issues, couples and relationship difficulties. I have experience with mild level Personality Disorders such as Bipolar, Borderline, Obsessive Compulsive and Schizoid. I am trained in Transactional Analysis therapy and draw upon Psychodynamic and Relational models in my work.

I am a member of the BACP. I have experience of working as a counsellor at MIND (the UK's largest mental health charity). I have also worked at a psychiatric hospital where l was part of a multidisciplinary team working with personality disorders providing complex care.

I am also a leadership coach working with individuals and organisations. I have over 15 years of experience working in the corporate world in a senior management capacity. Over this time, I have gained tremendous insight into the world of leadership and management. I understand work related issues such as stress, performance anxiety, and managing teams. I also work as an executive coach on significant job related issues such as career counselling, redundancy, preparation for promotions and developing new leaders and managers.

In the sessions we can explore:

  • Finding and understanding yourself
  • Dealing with anxiety or stress
  • Learning to manage your anger
  • Sleeping better and being able to relax
  • Developing your self-belief and self-esteem
  • Working on your relationship(s)

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

My original training and background was in Hotel Management and Facilities Management. I have had over 15 years of experience working in industry in a senior management capacity. I have led large, multi-jurisdictional teams and understand the leadership challenges associated with those roles. Over this time, I have gained tremendous knowledge of work related issues from stress, performance anxiety to leadership issues and team development.

I am an associate director for a boutique consultancy - Blacklight Advisory Ltd, www.blacklightadvisory.co.uk, who specialise in organisation and leadership development.

As a coach, I will work with you, drawing from my experience in industry, to help you with the challenges of your role. Whether you are struggling at work or looking to develop yourself, I can help you gain insight into the patterns of behaviour that impede your performance. We will work together to understand what is holding you back, what are in your 'blind spots' and how you can leverage and build your strengths. Often, I work with leaders looking to build their leadership capability in order to better run their businesses and better manage their teams.

I am also available to run group work and team sessions. I regularly run sessions with teams on understanding their interpersonal communication styles and I facilitate workshops on raising mental health awareness in corporate organisations.
