Iwa Inez Kos reg. BPC
189 Munster Road
I am experienced Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and I work in private practice in Fulham. Alongside this I work as therapist in NHS. Depending on your needs and expectations I can offer both short-term and long-term therapy. I offer evening appointments.
I am aware of how much courage it takes to work through one’s difficulties, and how every person has a unique life experience. Drawing from acquired knowledge and experience I will be very happy to help you to better understand your feelings, relationships and experiences and work through your problems. I offer a safe and empathetic space where some issues and concerns may be shared for the first time. All contact throughout the therapy remains confidential, including the fact that you are in therapy.
The therapeutic space would enable you to discuss your life and face anything that is particularly painful, difficult, confusing, shameful or uncomfortable. It might help you to make sense of what you are going through. I work predominantly with the psychodynamic approach, which enables an individual to get insight into dysfunctional and repetitive ways of engaging with others and the wider world. The therapeutic relationship would allow you to understand better your feelings, thoughts, internal conflicts, patterns of reactions to the world, and their behaviour. As a result, you might experience a sense of liberation from old patterns of behaviour, and be empowered to make important changes in your relationships and career.
A safe and empathetic relationship with the therapist leads to self-growth and a sense of acceptance. The fact that the therapist can look at things from a distance will create a unique opportunity to explore your difficulties in a confidential place without feelings of shame. As you will inevitably bring up painful feelings and memories, you may go through a period of feeling worse than when you began therapy. However, therapy should allow you to create more robust ways of emotional functioning, and you will feel better in the long-run.
I offer therapy in English, French and Polish.
