About me

Why I am different from most therapists:

Whilst I am trained in traditional talking therapy, I have trained in more dynamic therapies such as equine psychotherapy and Breathwork. Equine and Breathwork are able to move energy in the body that may be stuck. It is the energy in the body that can keep you stuck. Free the energy and it frees something up within you. Working this way offers you greater value for money in my opinion.

I have personally experienced all of the therapies that I offer and completed in depth work on myself engaging in these therapies. I believe this enables me to offer an authentic connection with you to create safety and trust.

My services in more detail:

I offer counselling sessions and long term psychotherapy sessions where you can talk about your life and we work together towards your desired outcomes.

I am fully qualified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing), which is a technique that works with the brains natural ability to process everyday experiences. Trauma disrupts the brains usual processing, but EMDR can get your brain and nervous system functioning again using bilateral stimulation of the eyes or other areas of your body.

I can work with you using EMDR to target and re-process a specific traumatic event such as a car accident or assault. Phobias, Anxiety, Fear and unwanted patterns of behaviour can be worked through in a similar focused and structured block over several sessions (short term work). Please contact me for more information in how EMDR can help in targeting specific issues you may be struggling with.

I may suggest and work with stabilising elements of EMDR while working with you in long term therapy.

I am a fully qualified Breathwork practitioner. Breathwork is also known as Conscious Connected Breathing. During a Breathwork session I will facilitate you through a process in which you breath consciously for around an hour. During this process you are able to access and release energy in your body that keeps unhelpful patterns in place. The process can offer liberation from overwhelming feelings, feeling stuck, repeating unhelpful behaviours, feeling unfulfilled in your life and has many health benefits. Breathwork sessions last for around 2.5hours. We talk about patterns playing out in you life and beliefs you have in the first part of the session followed by a breathe for around an hour and there is an integration period of 30 minutes at the end. Fortnightly sessions are advised and 10 sessions can be enough to change things significantly. The process works on a cognitive, emotional and physical level.

Having had many Breathwork sessions as part of my training I have noticed pain disappear from a long standing back problem and pain from damage to my sciatic nerve has diminished. Breathwork has allowed me to release anger, rage, shame and guilt in a safe and supported way and my whole body is able to feel at peace. I am now able to help you express and release such emotions safely so that you can bring peace to your body and your life.

Breathwork sessions are for around 2.5 hours. Please contact me for further information.

I am a qualified Equine Assisted Psychotherapist which is a lovely and often empowering alternative to room based therapies. Working in the fresh air, the horses offer support and can access deep emotional places in clients with their highly tuned non verbal communication. Horses can gently reflect back existing patterns in clients relationships and encourage healthier ways of being. Please watch the powerful videos at the bottom of the page. Contact me for further information.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
