Into the Light is a London based not for profit project (all profits are reinvested for our users) founded in 1993 for men and women and all genders who have experienced child sexual abuse and for those that support them. We are a Registered Community Interest Company (Company No 8738759). Into The Light is a full Member of The Survivors Trust the organization that represents Survivors Services at Government Level.

We also can offer support and help to people who are experiencing other difficulties and relationships issues.

Our philosophy is that change and healing from child sexual abuse come by:

  • Giving Information

  • Breaking Isolation

  • Sharing Experience

We can offer you several services:

One to One Counselling
We offer one to one counselling for men and women and all genders who have been sexually abused in a safe and confidential environment by professional counsellors. Our counsellors have specialist training and knowledge of the impact sexual abuse has on lives and relationships. We also offer counselling to those who are supporting men and women who have experienced Sexual Abuse – for example partners or friends. Our counsellors are available:

  • Face to Face in London

  • By telephone throughout the UK

  • On Line  throughout the UK

The Into The Light Ten Week Course For Survivors

We offer a ten week counselling and educational course which is topic based and information giving but with plenty of time for sharing experiences and feelings. During the course we focus on different aspects of the impact of sexual abuse on us as adults. We look at how it affects our self image, our relationships, ways out of negative cycles of behaviour and ideas for moving forward to gain better relationships and new hope for the future. The course is facilitated by a Professional Counsellor and is underpinned with a therapeutic approach.

You can access this course in three ways:

Groups:
Group sessions are held weekly for one and a half hours. Each group has 6-8 members.

This course is available for women in London in Ealing and On line.

One To One:
We also provide the course on a one to one basis for women and men and all genders.  Counsellors are available on line and in some London areas.

On Line:
We offer one to one counselling throughout the UK for all genders on line.

We also offer:

Workshops

On some of the main issues surrounding sexual abuse for men and women survivors and also for partners, support workers and counsellors that support them.

Seminars and Training

For community groups, counselling services and organizations on the issues surrounding supporting survivors of child sexual abuse.

A Website

Training, qualifications & experience

All our counsellors are professionally trained to Diploma standard and beyond and Members of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their ethics. They all have their own personal insurance, Supervision and are individually totally responsible for their clients in every way – that means you can talk to them directly about any questions or concerns you may have.

Our project has been running for thirty years and we have helped hundreds of people.

We have had some very good feedback including:

The Counsellor was amazing… I could not have done my journey without her”

The group helped me put in place strategies of self care for the first time.”

The course was pivotal in my journey of recovery from sexual abuse.”

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
