About me

As an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor I provide a calm and caring environment where you can talk freely, and confidentially.   Through talking and exploring we aim to untangle those strands of thought and anxieties leading to a clearer understanding of your situation and making it easier to find a way forward.

Sometimes, without us even knowing it, past experiences or patterns of behaviour have become muddled in current situations.  Teasing this out makes the present more understandable and we become better able to manage the influence our past has on our present and future.

We all have times when life's experiences can seem confusing or overwhelming. Maybe life seems to be stuck, a decision impossible. Perhaps you want to know yourself better, or talk over difficult experiences. Talking with a caring, non-judgemental counsellor, in confidence, can make a difference.

Perhaps you would like to take some time out to reflect on where you are and where you would like to be. Counselling can help to focus those thoughts and make them more helpful.

Whatever your concerns we work together at a pace that is right for you.

My work is informed by a number of models. At all times I aim to offer what is most appropriate for you.  Examples of the concerns I have experience with include: anxiety, relationship issues, loss, periods of change and transitions, difficult or traumatic experiences, depression, stress,  low self-confidence or self-esteem, anger management.

I work with individual adults on either an open ended basis or for a brief, agreed period of time focussing on a specific issue.  We can explore what is most suitable for you during our initial, no obligation, meeting.

I offer face to face work, online and phone therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
