Most of us, at one time or another, will encounter situations that we find difficult to cope with. As a result we may find ourselves feeling alone, depressed, anxious, angry, unable to cope or guilty. These feelings then impact on other areas of our life and we may find ourselves losing confidence and self-esteem, feeling confused or lacking direction, disturbed eating or sleeping habits, alcohol or drug abuse, self-harm, panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.
WHAT TYPE OF THERAPY?
To enable you to achieve positive change in your life I will provide a safe, caring and non-judgmental space, where you can feel free to be yourself. We may discuss thoughts, feelings, behaviours and situations relating to the past, present or future. Rather than offer you advice or tell you what to do we’ll work together to find the right solutions for you. I will work hard to understand your life from your point of view. As a person-centred therapist I will work at your pace and won’t pressure you.
I am also able to offer eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). This is a type of therapy proven to be beneficial for trauma, anxiety and phobias so we could also discuss whether this might be helpful to you.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
The first session does not commit you to further appointments, it is a chance for you to meet me and find out what I can offer. We will discuss what brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. The most important thing is that you find a therapist that you like and trust. If you feel I’m not the right counsellor for you then that’s OK. If we can work together we will arrange how often we will meet and for how long.
I know how frightening the first step can be, but talking really can help. Please call me confidentially on 07866 276732 or email for further information. You will be under no obligation to take things further if you do not wish to.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
