About me

Hello, my name is Inez and I am an Accredited and Registered BACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist with many years’ experience of working with adults, children and young people for a wide range of issues.

Whatever your issue, my aim is to build a trusting and empathic relationship with you, one where you will not be judged or told what to do, so that we can discuss and explore your problems safely and in confidence.

How I work:

My approach is ‘client centred’  which means that counselling will be tailored to your specific needs so that we use a style and type of counselling which suits you and your particular issue and at a pace which feels right for you.

My ultimate aim is for you to gain a better understanding of yourself so that you can feel empowered to make choices about how you think and what you do, in order for you to find your way through your issues and to begin to enjoy your life once again.

I am experienced in using a range of therapies and, depending on your needs, preferences and particular issues, will use whichever I feel would work best for you; this will always be explained to you.

Types of problems:

My range of experience includes:

  • Abuse and abusive relationships
  • Anger
  • Anxiety of all kinds including general anxiety, OCD and phobias
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Bullying
  • Depression, low mood and sadness
  • Family and relationship problems
  • Intrusive or troublesome thoughts
  • Issues from childhood or other difficult life experiences from the past
  • PTSD, traumatic experiences, flashbacks (treatment includes Rewind Therapy)
  • Self esteem and confidence
  • Self defeating behaviour
  • Self harm
  • Stress
  • Work related issues

…and more

Please do ask me if your problem isn’t listed here as often one problem can be as a result of another, for example, sleep problems as a result of stress.

How many sessions?

This is hard to say as some issues may need more sessions than others.  For example, you may only need a few sessions to gain a fresh perspective on something which is troubling you, but deep seated issues may need more sessions.  This can be discussed at our first meeting and we can tailor the work to suit your availability and budget. I always review our work together after 3 or 4 sessions to check whether you feel it is working for you and you have the option to stop at any time.

Counselling is only for serious problems isn’t it?

Many people believe that counselling is only appropriate in extreme situations.  My belief is that it can be of benefit for many different issues that we may be experiencing in our life at any one time.  It can help us gain more awareness and insight so we can understand why we think and behave in certain ways.  Armed with this insight and self-knowledge, we can then feel empowered to make changes for the better.

Still not sure if counselling is right for you?

I understand from my own experience that the decision to have counselling can sometimes be a hard one to make.  For this reason I offer a half-hour appointment free of charge, with no obligation so that you can meet me to ask any questions you may have and to find out if counselling is something you feel would help. This can usually be arranged within a week or two and the decision to come back will be entirely yours.

I will always be honest with you and tell you if I think something or someone else might be better suited to your particular problem.

If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them either by phone or email, or you can visit my website www.clear-mind.co.uk (see the link at the top of the page) which may give you the information you need.

I will answer any enquiries within 24 hours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
