Painful events such as bereavement, relationship break-ups or job loss may make us feel out of control or hopeless. Often we don’t even know what causes emotional difficulties – we just know that we don’t feel right. Whatever the reason, psychotherapy and counselling offer a way of exploring our thought patterns and emotional unrest within a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work in both a short-term counselling model (x 12 sessions) and also offer open-ended psychotherapy. An initial assessment meeting will help us to determine together which type of therapy is in your best interests at this particular time.
My therapeutic approach is to offer people a space to share troubling or distressing thoughts and feelings with someone who is not only professionally trained to help unpack them, but who will be completely alongside them during the process. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a creative, collaborative process which can help to bring clarity and a greater understanding of how we have come to be the way we are. This new insight can help us to see things differently and may allow us to feel freer to make choices about how we interact with the world around us. All this can help us to lead a more contented, fulfilled life.
