About me

Hi, I'm Ilo.

It’s not unusual at times for people to encounter difficulties which can feel overwhelming. However, what the counselling space can provide is the much needed warmth, non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment to look at these life issues. From my experience, I hold the view that you perhaps already have most of the resources you need.

Therefore, I aim to work collaboratively with you to make sense of your world or to clarify issues you may be facing and to enable you to gain a deeper sense of your ‘self’ which could bring about some positive transformation.

I have over 14 years experience working (in groups and one to ones) with adults and young people of all ages faced with mainly Relationship problems, Depression/Anxiety and Drug & Alcohol addiction.

Also, I am experienced in helping people with issues of; stress, self-esteem, anger, phobia and panic attacks, sexual identity, childhood trauma, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), spirituality, personal development, bereavement, cultural and race issues, work-related issues and general counselling.

I use various models of Humanistic and Solution Focused counselling to offer my clients (adults and young people) short or long term therapy. I work from locations in Tadworth (Surrey) which offers individuals and couples the space to be heard in a non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment.

I am a graduate of the Greenwich University with a BA (Hons) in Counselling and I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Telephone and On-line Counselling

I also offer therapy sessions by various secure on-line platforms and tailored to your need (WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype video conferencing, telephone and/or email etc.). This can be a useful alternative if it is difficult for you to come in person. Some people are suited to this form of therapy and I conduct it in a practical and straightforward style. Clients who are unsure about telephone or video therapy have usually expressed surprise at how they were able to engage with therapy conducted through that means.
