About me

Thank you for viewing my page. I am truly passionate about helping individuals and couples create healthy relationships. Having worked for Relate in Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Warwickshire since 1996, and privately in GP surgeries. I have had the pleasure of providing relationship counselling to people who have struggled due to painful relationship patterns.

It has been my privilege to witness the transformation of my clients as they break their destructive patterns - to form relationships that are based on honesty, respect, and true intimacy.

How may I help you?
I draw upon a broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic knowledge, I believe that no single approach has all the answers, therefore I can offer the most effective tools and techniques from different modalities and have helped clients overcome:

  • relationship breakdowns
  • renegotiating a relationship
  • end of a significant relationship
  • depression
  • life stage
  • low self-esteem after separation
  • bereavement
  • abuse
  • loneliness
  • stress and anxiety

My approach is to enable the exploration of feelings and thoughts about oneself and relationships with others and to understand the connection between how our past experiences and our current behaviours may result in negative outcomes. The process is collaborative, based on respect, and is non-judgemental.

Assessment Consultation
In my opinion, the key to gaining the best possible outcome is the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client(s). Therefore I will always recommend an Assessment Consultation to see if you feel comfortable working with me and, likewise, to see if I can offer the expertise you need. The length of ongoing therapy will depend on your individual needs and is usually for a mutually agreed period discussed at the end of the Assessment Consultation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Here is a little feedback from some of my clients:

"I have not had an opportunity to say how much I appreciated all you did for us. I was really at the end of my tether when I contacted you and felt almost as if there was no way forward. You have helped to give us hope and a new way forward and I cannot thank you enough. It is so good to have my husband no longer depressed and for us as a couple to be closer and happier and to talk to one another. I feel we have learned skills to help us in the future." - John and Penny

"Just to say thank you for your support and insight over the past few months, and for helping me to find a better place in life." Noola G.

"Honora enabled me (a notoriously closed soul) to find an outlet to talk in a space that I felt supported and understood. This proved alien to me at first but due to her help I think/hope my wife's understanding of me, and in contrast, my greater understanding of her will play a huge part in our long future together."
