Hello, and thank you for viewing my profile.
I am an experienced UKCP registered psychotherapist and counsellor.
I offer a respectful, confidential space to explore what is troubling you, help you make meaning of your experiences, move on from difficult past events, change unhelpful patterns and live a fulfilling life, whatever that means to you.
I bring to my work sensitivity, warmth, humour and genuine interest in people’s stories, along with a love of diversity and of the natural environment.
I work both short- and longer- term, and have helped people with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, work-related stress, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, low confidence and self esteem, childhood experiences including neglect and abuse. Often people come without a specific "issue", rather a general sense that life could be better, or to reflect on and share their history with a non-judgemental person who is not involved in it.
My core training is in Transactional Analysis, a theory of personality which helps us understand how we engage (“transact”) with others and ourselves. I also draw on other approaches, and my ongoing personal and professional development.
Prior to starting my counselling and psychotherapy practice in 2004, I worked for several years in business and the voluntary sector, helping to build inclusive accessible communities and working with individuals and groups.
There is more information on my website, and you are welcome to contact me to arrange an initial consultation.
I work in accordance with the ethical guidelines and ethical codes of the UKCP ( the UK Council for Psychotherapy) and am in ongoing clinical supervision.
