About me

Face-to-face sessions are available.

As an experienced counsellor, and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society, it is my role to work with you in a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential environment.

You have already taken a bold first step in seeking help – counselling can help you to break free so that you can live your life again.

How I can help you and what you can expect:

Whether you – or someone you know – are suffering from anxiety, stress, depression or have any other problems that have led to distress, or you are a couple with relationship or family issues there is no need to suffer in silence. There is no need to feel alone.

I undertake three main types of therapy, all of which require mutual trust, honesty and understanding – the benchmark of my professional approach.

At the initial session we will discuss which of these will work best for you, or if a combination of therapies would be the best option, and agree how the therapy sessions will work.

We can meet either in my specially created therapy room at my home in Stourbridge – a peaceful space which offers complete privacy and confidentiality – or I can visit you in your home if you have a suitable space available.

We will work together on deciding how many sessions will be suitable for you. Each individual case is different – some people may only need a couple of sessions but others prefer or need a longer-term approach.

I work with both private clients and businesses that are keen to support their employees with an Employee Assistance Programme.

Finding the right therapy for you:

Humanistic Counselling
(Person Centred) is an extremely effective method that enables you to explore freely your whole life experience, rather than focusing on one specific area or problem. It will allow you to realise your skills/strengths and we will work together to build on these to reach your goals.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured therapy that is used mostly to treat anxiety and depression. It is a collaborative intervention, which means that together, we will agree a step-by-step plan for you to modify your behaviour. You can practise these between sessions and when we meet, we will assess the changes that this practice has bought about.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a short-term treatment that focuses finding a solution to a specific problem.

Our therapy sessions will give you the space to explore the issues that are causing you suffering and by offering you a high standard of therapeutic care and support, I can help you to find solutions to those problems.

BACP

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
