Counselling and more . . .
I am both a Counsellor and Health Coach working in South Devon and if required, am able to offer nutritional support as part of my approach in improving mental wellbeing. My expertise is in supporting women with stress-related depression / anxiety issues, whether those are caused by life events such as relationship issues, illness, bereavement, family issues, work stress, SAD, menopause or life transition. I use an innovative approach to mental and emotional wellbeing - one that takes the whole person into account, and may provide an alternative to medication.
Many things impact how you feel and how the chemicals in your brain function - how you think about yourself and the world, stress from factors outside your control, how much support you have, meaningful activity, childhood and past events, your health and ability to self-care. Having someone to talk to who is totally objective and has your best interests at heart can be the difference between 'sink or swim'. Difficult life events will inevitably affect your mood and thinking patterns and these can be addressed through talking therapy. With the added bonus of some dietary and lifestyle changes, amazing improvement can happen fast!
You may be thinking I'm going to suggest some sort of restrictive dietary plan - the thought probably makes you feel even worse! No - this is about adding in good things to your life - good food, good thoughts, good actions - figuring out what will help to build your resilience, balance out those mood chemicals and take control of your life, so that you can better cope with whatever challenges you are facing. It is also about a collaborative relationship with me.
If what I have said interests you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Go to my website for more information or give me a call. I offer a free initial consultation with no obligation.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have spent most of my adult years (over 30) working in the field of personal development and change. I have worked with 100's of people individually through coaching and counselling, and leading groups - some in large organisations.
In the 80's I trained in Structural Consulting, work that focusses on empowering people to create what matters most to them in their lives. I also trained in Re-evaluation Counselling, Reality Therapy, and Psychosynthesis. In 2004 I completed a Diploma in Counselling, 2010 a Diploma in Life, Business and Executive Coaching, and the last piece of the jigsaw has been studying as a Health Coach in 2014 with The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I have worked for the last 4 years as Lead Counsellor in a Staff Support Service for a local NHS Trust where I honed my knowledge and skills in stress-related mood issues. I believe the above makes me a unique practitioner - able to offer my clients an exceptionally skilled, holistic service.

You can work face to face with me or via Skype / phone. We would work together for an agreed number of counselling sessions depending on your presenting problems, and we would discuss this in our initial complimentary session.
I always suggest a complimentary session so we can meet, see if what I offer matches what you are looking for, and discuss options of how we would work together.
I currently see my face to face clients in Buckfast, near Buckfastleigh, Devon.
Groups and classes are also available from time to time. My newsletter emails are a good way of staying in touch, receiving health info, and latest news from me. Go to my website to sign up.
I am running two workshops this Autumn in Totnes - 'Diets Don't Work' and 'Up Your Mood with Food. Go to my website for more information.
