About me

Video technology and Face to Face is currently available .

I am an profesionally accredited counsellor with over 10 years experience who likes to encourage growth and development within an individual. To do this I focus on self-development and I seek to help individuals recognise their strengths, creativity and choices.

Exploration of difficult issues can be frightening so together we can explore them in a non judgemental way and facilitate change by encouragement and self awareness. I can assist individuals in making sense of confusing or overwhelming emotions, help them to develop resources to cope, gain a deeper understanding of self and how they may relate to others.

I also specialise in working with Young People from the age of 11 years with a view to building self esteem, development of abilities to cope with anxieties, bullying and peer pressure. I have a wealth of experience dealing with Young People who may be having suicidal thoughts, or may be undertaking some sort of self harm. I have experience with running anger management workshops and can work with anger issues on a one to one basis too.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

NCPS

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Young People Specialism

I hold a post qualification Certificate in Counselling Young People and have experience of working with youngsters from the age of 10 years with a view to building self-esteem, development of abilities to cope with anxieties, bullying and peer pressure (to name but a few).

I have a wealth of experience dealing with Young People who may be having suicidal thoughts or may be undertaking some sort of self-harm. I have previously run anger management workshops and use this knowledge to inform work on a one to one basis.

This special interest of working with teenagers and young adults uses different approaches than I perhaps would with adults. Often it can be creative to encourage the client to engage in the counselling process and to be able to express their feelings and worries. Creative methods, which use play, art and crafts can also help give an insight into the unconscious mind of the client. Some older children may prefer to talk to their therapist in a similar way to an adult client or they may want a mixture of talking and using creative methods.

I work flexibly in order to ensure all work is carried out in a way that best suits the client. It does not involve making decisions for the client nor giving advice or imposing beliefs on them.

I have the privilege of being on an CYPT accredited register which proves competency and standard of training when working with CYP clients.

I also run a service for newly qualified or student counsellors.
