I'm an experienced and fully qualified therapist. I offer short term and longer term psychotherapy in Camden.
I draw on a number of different therapeutic models including humanistic, existential, cognitive and mindfulness. This allows me the flexibility to meet different clients' needs and personalities.
I'm experienced in working with people with depression, anxiety and generalised anxiety syndrome. I also have specific expertise with issues relating to bereavement and loss, relationship problems, postnatal depression and fertility.
I make the process of therapy as transparent as possible: communicating with clients about how we're working and changes we might realistically achieve, being open to questions and offering regular reviews to assess how the therapy is progressing.
I think that good therapy involves a balance between empathetic listening, and thoughtful interventions. For some people this might involve a reframing of the way they perceive themselves in relationship to others. For some it might be helpful to learn new ways of coping with challenging events, and for others it might be more important to feel safe to talk and be understood. The aim is to achieve lasting change.
Psychotherapy offers the opportunity for talking in a confidential and non judgemental environment to someone who is carefully listening to what is said and to what is not said. It should also offer an uncomplicated and safe space in which past events and traumas can be slowly remembered without the worry of protecting the listener.
Who benefits from therapy?
People from all walks of life, ages, social and ethnic backgrounds come for counselling and psychotherapy. People often come at times of transition; between jobs, after a bereavement or a relationship breakdown, or because the cannot find the way out of a mood of anxiety or depression.
