About me

'Calm seas do not make skilful sailors.' Experienced therapist working with individuals and couples.

Whilst we may not welcome the inevitable uncertainties and difficulties of life, nonetheless they present opportunities for personal growth and development.

With thousands of hours of experience as a therapist, I've found that my hopes and aspirations for my clients are well placed.

Whatever brings you to therapy - a crisis or a longstanding sense that life could be better - therapy is ring-fenced time just for you. To explore and make sense of things and of who you are. To identify, challenge and change your entrenched, self-defeating patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. To recognise and to utilise your strengths.

Couples counselling - The breakdown of our intimate relationships may be so gradual we simply adapt and labour on in a sort of quiet despair. Then a crisis serves as a wake up call. Couples counselling allows for exploration of relationship difficulties and space to make decisions about how to move forward into the future.  One aim of therapy is to aid honest communication at a time when you may both feel in turmoil and extremely vulnerable.

But couples therapy doesn't have to wait for a crisis. I've often heard, 'We wish we'd come to couples therapy years ago!'  Indeed, effective and timely counselling can help you to resolve those endless circular arguments and disputes, and to recreate your partnership for a more contented future together.

My training background - I am trained in an integrative approach to psychotherapy. This means my approach is flexible and adaptable, and recognises that people are complex and their lives complicated. In addition to a rich academic background in developmental psychology, my rich life experiences also inform my practice.

EAP/Organisations - I have experience of working successfully with referrals from EAP/Organisations and charities. Enquiries welcome. Current DBS Certificate. Registered with ICO.

Confidentiality - To safeguard client confidentiality I do not add your name or other identifying details to my notes. In addition, I do not store sensitive client information on my computer.
