About me

Sometimes we can find life's changes or issues difficult to understand and to cope with... someone to provide time and space to listen without judgement can make a huge difference - talking works, because as we talk we unconciously release negative emotions that affect our wellbeing.
Based at home with separate counselling room outside of property. Availability is during evenings and weekends.
It can sometimes be difficult to talk to family or friends about personal problems; making the decision to begin therapy can also feel daunting.  I will offer you a comfortable, confidential and accepting space where problems can be shared and resolved in a safe, supportive environment.
I work with individual clients and couples, offering one to one and relationship counselling including conflict resolution.  Do you feel that you need to gain some clarity  either within a relationship or for yourself? My areas include self discovery as we all have the inner ability to find resolution to life's inevitable problems and difficult times; sometimes we need to find new ways of reaching this, in our personal and professional lives.
Counselling for issues including loss and grief, depression and anxiety, self esteem, techniques to reduce symptoms of stress, also counselling for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, regardless of how far back the trauma goes.  Effects of emotional, sexual or physical abuse, whether in the past or present.
Mediation service available for conflict resolution between family members, neighbours, colleagues, partners or ex partners including in relation to contact arrangements or other issues.

Theories used include Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic and Person Centred.  Qualified in Integrative therapy using a range of therapies working to gain the best trusting and caring relationship with clients in order to resolve personal and relational issues.
Counselling offers a safe space to talk about issues that are troubling and may be difficult to discuss with others.

You can be assured of complete confidentiality and non-judgmental approach.  I work within the ethical framework of BACP professional body and am a registered member of BACP professional body.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
