We all face periods in life when things become too difficult for us to manage alone. Seeking help can feel daunting, but at times like this, it's often easier to talk to someone who isn't personally involved.
As a counsellor, I provide a welcoming, supportive, confidential space where you can talk through your thoughts and feelings openly, without fear of feeling judged.
I offer counselling for adults and young people in a quiet, private setting, based in Totnes, South Devon. I work with people across the Torbay and South Hams area, including Paignton, Brixham, Newton Abbot and Torquay.
I offer brief short-term, or long-term open-ended therapy, depending on what is right for you. My approach is warm, constructive and down-to-earth, bringing my skills and experience to develop our working relationship.
I am fully qualified, insured, experienced and professional. My way of working is to develop a supportive, collaborative relationship, to build trust and encourage well-being.
My experience is of helping people with many of the human issues that can affect us all; when it seems hard to see the way forward, to think clearly amidst confusion, or to understand powerful emotions which can feel overwhelming.
These issues may include relationship difficulties, family/parenting issues, managing anxiety/stress, coping with depression, experiencing grief/loss, undergoing life-change/transition, living with illness/disability and/or struggling with lack of confidence/low self-esteem.
Using a broad range of skills and experience, I work to build a therapeutic, working relationship, aiming to help you make positive change in your life. I won’t give you advice, but I will work together with you, at your own pace.
Counselling can offer you a chance to change how you feel and begin to live better. It can provide an opportunity to clarify issues that are troubling you and help you make positive choices about your future.
I hold a professional qualification, the Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling (DipHIC) from the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling.
My practice is situated in a quiet, residential cul-de-sac, conveniently situated a short walk from the centre of Totnes. I work from a comfortable, designated private room. Off-road parking is available. The bus station is 7 minutes walk and the train station about 20 minutes walk away
I offer a free half-hour initial meeting; this is your opportunity to discuss what is troubling you and whether counselling can help. If we both feel that counselling is the right choice for you, we will arrange further regular appointments.
