Profile

Counselling can help you to develop skills to deal with your problems positively.   Are you experiencing relationship issues, recovering from a betrayal or affair, facing separation or divorce?  Do you suffer from anxiety, depression or low self esteem?  Is there conflict at home or work, major change in your life or are you seeking recovery from loss or bereavement?  By exploring your thinking patterns and feelings and reflecting on your behaviours, I can support you to understand your problems to help you cope and live a more fulfilling life.

In my work with both couples and individuals, I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is a key factor in the healing process. I work in an integrative way, using a range of counselling approaches, including person-centred, cognitive based therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and solution focused therapy but most importantly I consider the whole person and the individual’s needs.  My previous professional experience working in a large organisation adds value to my counselling approach. I also provide a counselling service for adolescents, bringing creative counselling techniques to help work through their difficulties.

I am an approved service supplier for CiC (Counselling in Companies), University Campus Suffolk, Meningitis Trust, Red Arc Care Services and ITV's Jeremy Kyle Show.

As well as my professional counselling Degree, I have additional training and experience as an anger management counsellor and couples counsellor.  I have worked with small groups offering therapeutic training for anger management, depression management, anxiety management and confidence and self esteem.  In addition, I work as a volunteer counsellor with Survivors in Transition, an organisation supporting adults who have survived childhood sexual abuse.

My main practises are in Ipswich and Kesgrave.  As well as working in private practice, in 2010 I established a new counselling agency in Suffolk (Positive Pathways www.positive-pathways.org.uk) to meet the growing need for psychological therapies to improve the health and well being of individuals.

September 2011 saw the launch of a new telephone counselling service - you can benefit from professional counselling, with no telephone or  travel costs.  Please see website for more information www.positive-pathways.org.uk
