About me

I help people who are having a difficult time to feel better about themselves. With over 20 years experience as a counsellor and humanitarian aid worker, I focus on practical techniques that let you take steps to a happier and more productive life. My skills and experience are fully accredited by the BACP.

Respecting your privacy, we shall work together, finding strategies to tackle the obstacles in your life allowing you to build a stronger relationship with yourself and those close to you.

My approach is reflective and centred wholly around you.

I’ve helped people from a variety of backgrounds including professionals, aid workers and services/armed forces personnel.

I specialise in workplace stress and bullying, living with anxiety, work burn out, road traffic accident trauma, relationship issues, couple counselling and coping with long term chronic illnesses.

I’m professionally trained and work to the highest standards of BACP. I’m an Aviva approved counsellor and affiliated with several Employment Assistant Programmes.

As a qualified supervisor I mentor counsellors through their BACP accreditation process.

I work with adults, couples and groups. Counselling sessions are available face-to-face, via Skype, through email

I also offer Walk Talk Therapy which combines walking and talking. We start at Cross Sythes in Totley or at Endcliffe Cafe. It is ideal for those who are bereaved, suffering depression or post-natal depression.

I am an BACP Accredited counsellor. This means my practice has been deemed to meet the standard for a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.  In addition my training has also met the standards required to gain entry onto the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapies Voluntary Accredited Register.  This Register is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care and provides assurance to clients that the counsellor offers good quality care.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am trained as an online counsellor and can also offer online counselling via Skype, email and Instant Messaging. Online counselling is an appealing alternative for clients who are out of geographical area, work away, for clients who live in remote places, those with difficulties with transport or childcare costs and also when illness or disability would prevent someone from accessing counselling. Please look at www.inyourcommunity/services for more information . These services are at a payable in advance, by bank transfer or Paypal.

Further information

Here's what my clients say:

I needed counselling and feel that it gave me the opportunity to talk through the feelings and issues I have openly. I greatly appreciate the service I received and may well use it again if I feel that I need to in the future. Andy

You helped me to get to know myself and to give me the strength to cope with my grief. Counselling has helped me to open up and talk about the way I feel rather than keeping my feelings to myself. Thank you. Cheryl

‘You have helped me look forward to the future.’ Mary

‘I explored many emotions. You allowed me to cry, laugh and shout and I always felt you were carrying me.’ Paul
