About me

Is something preventing you from getting the most out of your life? Are you experiencing feelings of confusion, anxiety, unhappiness, loneliness? Feeling misunderstood or unfulfilled? As an accredited qualified Counsellor I can help.

Based in the Woodley area of Reading, I am an Accredited member of the BACP and work within their ethical framework  I offer one to one sessions during the week to adults and young people.

Come to counselling and you will experience a confidential space in which you can share and explore any aspect of your life. There may be a particular issue that needs resolving, or there may be underlying feelings of emptiness, sadness or confusion about life. I create a trusting relationship in which you will feel the freedom to fully explore yourself and your world view. Counselling is a journey during which you may experience greater awareness of yourself, the world around you and the choices available to you. Relationships are often where we experience the most hurt, but equally they can be the vehicle for a great deal of healing leading to a more enriched way of life and a renewed sense of freedom.

I am trained to offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy that helps you to process and recover from difficult or traumatic past experiences that may be impacting your well-being or mental health. EMDR can be used for a range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression and phobias.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a degree in International Health Studies (BSc), Postgraduate Diploma in Person-centred and Existential Counselling and I am an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner. I have experience of counselling in voluntary agencies and private practice. I have extensive experience working with both adults and young people in a range of settings including the Criminal Justice System, Secondary Schools, and a Youth Counselling Service.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
