About me

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist based in Stockton Heath, Warrington.

Counselling and psychotherapy can help us through difficult times and can also help us build richer, more rewarding relationships with ourselves and others.

I believe that we each have the resources to develop new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving so we can make positive choices in our lives. We don’t always feel capable of this. Sometimes we need support from someone outside family and friends, to listen to our difficulties and invite us to look after ourselves more. I will offer you a respectful, professional and confidential relationship where you can talk through concerns and explore the ways you want to move forward and what works for you.

How we work will depend on the issues and what you find useful. I will integrate different types of therapy, TA (Transactional Analysis), Relational and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) into the sessions according to your needs. The therapy can be short or long term, depending on the changes you want to make.

The first session is a chance for you to meet me, and there is no commitment at this stage. You will be able to tell me what has brought you to therapy and I will feedback possible ways to work and what might be involved.

I will be happy to answer any questions you may have to help you decide whether you want to work with me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my person-centred training in counselling in 1998 and went on to complete four years training in Advanced Transactional Analysis (clinical). I have been in private practice since 2004 and am experienced in working with many issues, including anxiety, depression, low self - esteem, separation, grief and loss. I have particular experience with families affected by Autism through my counselling work for ChAPS (Cheshire Autism Parent Support).

I have worked in education for many years, first as a teacher and then as a tutor working with parents, carers and children in schools and children’s centres.

I continue to learn about life, people and relationships and enjoy building trusting relationships with clients to help them make the changes they want.

I am an Accredited Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a TA Practitioner registered with UKATA (UK Association of Transactional Analysis).
