About me

Hello, firstly, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read my profile here.

I recognise that you might feel slightly overwhelmed at present, not just by your own thoughts and feelings, but also by the amount of choice there is in finding a Counsellor.

I enjoy my work as a Counsellor and I take our work together seriously. It is my hope that  you will also come to enjoy our working together. Like a comfortable pair of shoes, it is essential that you feel we are a 'good fit'. We will be sharing a journey together, and we might explore some difficult terrain together.

I offer my clients a safe space in which to take this journey. I am interested in your experience, and look to develop an honest environment, that facilitates the awareness and change that you may be seeking. You should hopefully feel confidentially heard and safely held throughout our time together.

Some problems that I have helped others with are: Anxiety, Workplace Stress, Abuse, Anger Management, Bereavement, Depression, Panic Attacks, Low Self-Esteem, Relationship Issues, Sexual Identity. This list is by no means all of them.

Get in touch, and I look forward to us working together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I gained my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2015, and following successful completion of the Certificate of Proficiency exam, became a Registered Member of the BACP in 2016.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor using three models of theory, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). These models enable me to fully understand you as a person, from the way you think, to the way you experience the world around you, and relate to others.

Prior to my qualifying as a Counsellor the majority of my working life has been spent in Retail and Customer Service roles. I feel this enables me to offer client the warmth and security necessary for a good therapeutic experience. I have personal experience of many challenges that might occur in life, such as debt issues, and bereavement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
