About me

About Me

I am a fully qualified Counsellor, Hypnotherapist and Coach. I am a Professional member of The Counselling Society and The Hypnotherapy Society. I am also a professional member of CNHC and ANLP.

I am a strong believer in continued personal and professional development, and I constantly take opportunities to develop my own skills and expertise in order to offer my clients the best possible support.

I spent over 20 years in people management and leadership positions in a global company before devoting myself full time to running this practice.

I am passionate about learning, my family, music, food and cooking. I am always questioning and intrigued by life and I believe that this breadth of interest makes me a more effective counsellor and coach.

I also write a regular blog on matters of the mind which can be found on my website or directly here.

Which Issues Can I Help With?

I work frequently with Depression, Anxiety and Stress. I can work with Phobia, Abuse and Trauma and I am trained in a very effective technique to help overcome PTSD. I work with Anger and Relationship Issues, although not couples work, but I do know some very good therapists who specialise in this area should you require help.

I am a qualified Cruse trained bereavement counsellor and I am happy to work with any issues of loss.

In Maidstone I work in a clinic with several fitness and exercise specialists and work together with them to help with weight management issues.

I work frequently with low self-esteem and confidence issues and have also had some very good successes with Sleep improvement using hypnotherapy.

I also run a very successful Stop Smoking programme.

My Approach

I am not devoted to a particular psychotherapeutic approach but I do believe that we need to be understood and treated as individuals. What works for you might not work for someone else. It's important that you feel that you have the right counsellor or coach for you, and to that end I will always be happy to answer any questions you have prior to beginning work with a client.

How Can Counselling Help?

Sometimes the hardest step is the first one, when we know we need help and we finally find the strength to ask for it. That's what looking for help is, a great show of strength. The benefits of effective counselling are many, and different people will find they benefit in different ways at their own pace. In essence the process of discussing things that trouble us gives us new perspective and greater understanding of why we struggle in the way that we do. Not only that, but understanding a problem gives us the ability to find solutions and fuels our ability to find better strategies that can often lead to life changing improvements.

Is Counselling Good Value?

The odd thing about counselling is that the people who arrive have reached the point where they know something needs to change. At that point the cost has become less important, but in reality you are always worth the investment. People live with very limiting problems which could be fixed if they would just invest a little time and money in themselves. It seems eternally strange to me that many of us think nothing of spending many hundreds of pounds on a holiday or new clothes but we struggle to see an investment in our own lives as similarly worthwhile. Whatever choice you make regarding making your life better and more balanced remember that you are always worth it.

If you want to know more please contact me and I'll be happy to talk to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am professionally trained Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Hypnotherapist and Coach. My training in Integrative meaning that I use a combination of different approaches according to the needs of my client.

I achieved a Distinction in both my Counselling and Hypnotherapy training.

I work in private practice at clinics in Maidstone and Tenterden and have done so since 2010.

My coaching experience derives from the Advanced Certificate in Coaching completed in 2012 and previous to that the 25 years I spent in leadership roles in business.

In addition I am a qualified Cruse trained bereavement counsellor and qualified NLP Practitioner.

My over riding principle is that however well qualified I am not every therapist is right for every client. I am always happy to discuss my approach and experience with a client on the telephone, and there is an enormous amount of information on my website that will help you to identify whether or not I might be the right person to work with.

I write a weekly blog on emotional health and personal growth on my website
