About me

Hello, I'm Pina, a Psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP, adhering to their Ethical Framework for good practice.

In your counseling journey, there are times when the reasons for seeking support might not be crystal clear; you might simply sense unease or anxiety. Anxiety often serves as the initial prompt for many clients, and I specialize in delving into the potential triggers behind it, aiming to understand the root causes. My approach is centered on the client’s unique experience of the world, and together we explore this experience. I also incorporate the role of nature in our well-being and how the nervous system plays a significant role in how we navigate our day-to-day lives. Together, we explore valuable tools and skills to manage anxiety while addressing the underlying issues.

Creating a safe environment is paramount in my practice. I want clients to feel secure as we explore, gain clarity, foster empowerment, and build trust. I am dedicated to maintaining confidentiality, ensuring that you have a space where you can be heard without judgment and without being told what to do.

Through counseling, you can gain freedom from the chains of repetitive behavioral patterns and hurt. The focus of our work is your personal inward exploration and heightened self-awareness.

My Training

I am a trained Integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and in 2011, was awarded an Honours degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from University of Roehampton. theories underpinning my way of working are Person Centred, Existential and Analytic.  I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapy (RMBACP). My experience includes Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I am also a trained Walking and Nature Therapist and a qualified Forest Bathing Guide. I work outdoors, immersed in nature, with 'Walking and Talking sessions' in Commons, Parks, Riverside and other Green Spaces. This has been extremely beneficial in times of the pandemic as it allows social distancing and outside meet ups. Nature helps as a therapist during the sessions as it gives the addition of relaxation, wisdom and non judgement.

Forest Bathing/Shinrin Yoku

This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help both adults and children de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way

Languages and Diversity

English is my first language. I am also fluent in Italian, and can work in both languages.

Online

Apart from Walking Therapy session, all my sessions are now ONLINE: Platforms I use are: Skype, FaceTime, Zoom and BOT (UAE)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
