Gill Terry MBACP, BA(Hons)
Hello and welcome . . .
I am a counsellor working in Bedford & Milton Keynes and in West London (Ealing W5 & Twickenham TW1) with individuals and couples.
I am known for my ability to genuinely and sensitively be alongside clients with whatever they bring, and to accompany them through painful experiences towards healing, by offering a warm, gentle, respectful and professional presence.
Counselling can help us to make sense of difficult, painful or confusing experiences, in terms of our thoughts, behaviours, emotions and feelings/sensations. I provide a supportive, accepting space in which you can explore whatever may be troubling you, in confidence, at your own pace.
We all need help with life's challenges at times. My aim is to work collaboratively with you to enable you to gain a greater awareness, understanding and acceptance of yourself and how you relate to others, so that you can feel empowered to make choices and decisions which are in line with your uniqueness as an individual. This can lead to you feeling healthier, more confident, more motivated and more resourced, and to greater contentment in your life and relationships. For couples counselling, the focus will be on helping you to improve your awareness and understanding of both yourselves and each other in your relationship and to assist the communication between you.
Through my private practice, working with charities, and working with children and young people in schools, I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including : abuse, anger, anxiety, autism, bereavement, bullying, depression, divorce/separation, isolation, life transitions, loneliness, loss, low self esteem, neglect, relationship difficulties, stress, 'stuckness', and workplace challenges. Please see the list below, and feel free to ask about anything particular you may be experiencing which is not listed on there.
I offer short term counselling in London and Bedford/Milton Keynes, and long term counselling in Bedford/Milton Keynes, with no obligation to commit to a fixed number of sessions, though I would generally recommend a minimum of six. We would start with an initial 50 minute consultation to discuss what you would like to achieve, how we might work towards that, and to see how we can work together - the client(s)/counsellor relationship is central to my work. Ongoing sessions are also for 50 minutes, or 60 minutes for couples, once a week or fortnightly.
Sessions take place in therapy rooms in Bedford & Milton Keynes, or Ealing & Twickenham in London.
If you have any queries or questions or would like to know more, please feel free to phone or e-mail me, and/or visit my website.
