Hello and welcome, well done for taking the brave decision to seek help and support. Counselling can help you deal with deeply buried emotions and memories or present circumstances that are stopping you from living your life to the full.
Who am I and how do I work?
I am a qualified integrative counsellor who works alongside adults and children. I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced difficult emotions and situations in their lives.
Among some of the areas I have experience in are
- relationship breakdowns
- domestic abuse
- historic childhood abuse
- substance/alcohol misuse
- life changing conditions
- suicidal thoughts
- self harm
- low self-esteem
- low self-confidence
Although I am an integrative counsellor and use more than one style of counselling, I am at heart person-centred, valuing you and accepting how you feel.
The sessions will be confidential and non-judgemental, giving you the space and opportunity to explore your emotions, situation and thoughts. This will help you to decide how to move forward and find your own solutions.
Having been in the client's chair myself I know how big a step it is to look for help. I also know how beneficial it can be and how it can lead to empowerment and a more balanced way of life.
I offer a free telephone consultation, helping you to decide whether counselling with me is for you. If you decide to go ahead, we will arrange a suitable day and time, normally within 7 days, to have our initial session where we can discuss your expectations and goals from counselling and the appointment will normally last 50 minutes. If you decide to continue, we will agree on ways of helping you to find your own solutions, how often the sessions will be and we will book our next meeting.
I am based in a building near Sunderland Royal Hospital, with free parking available. It is also on a frequent and convenient bus route. Both adults and children have sessions here as the therapy room is equipped for all clients.
I also provide telephone and Skype counselling, please ask for details if you are interested in either.
