About me

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist who works from my private clinic in West Molesey, nearby to Hampton Court. It is easily accessible from Teddington, Hampton Wick, Kingston, Hampton, Esher, Hersham, Thames Ditton, Sunbury and Walton-On-Thames. As a Counselling Psychologist I am trained to work with different therapeutic approaches. Mainly, my therapeutic approach is relational and informed by a range of attachment, psychodynamic and person-centred theory. I am most concerned with understanding, nurturing and developing a secure and strong therapeutic relationship with individuals I see. I believe that this provides a necessary foundation from which personal growth and change can begin to occur. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship has a closer link to therapeutic movement than the specific type of counselling approach chosen.

I work with anybody who is experiencing mental distress or mental health issues. I work with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to: Abortion; Abuse; Addiction(s); Adoption; Affairs; Aids; Alcoholism; Anger Management; Anorexia nervosa; Anxiety; Attachment disorder; Behaviour problems; Bereavement; Betrayals; Binge-eating disorder; Bipolar disorder; Birth; Body dysmorphic disorder; Bulimia nervosa; Bullying; Cancer; Carer support; Career issues; Childhood bereavement; Childhood bullying; Child related issues; Chronic fatigue syndrome; Depression; Dissociation; Divorce; Domestic violence; Drug abuse; Eating disorders; Emotional abuse; Family issues; Feeling sad; Gambling; Gender dysphoria; Generalised anxiety disorder; HIV; Hoarding; Infertility; Internet addiction; Low self-confidence; Low self-esteem; Manic depression; ME; Miscarriage; Obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd); Panic disorder; Passive aggressive behaviour; Personality disorders; Phobias; Physical abuse; Postnatal depression; Post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd); Pregnancy; Redundancy; Relationship issues; Separation; Seasonal affective disorder (sad); Self-harm; Separation anxiety; Sexual abuse; Sex addiction; Sexuality; Sex problems; Smoking; Spirituality; Stress; Suicidal thoughts; Tourette's syndrome; Trauma; Work-related stress.

Your concern may not fall within any of these areas. You can bring anything that is worrying you or causing you distress, confusion, pain or difficulty. Sometimes individuals are not sure why they are coming to see me. They just feel things are not okay. They may bring a feeling they would like to work with such as feeling stuck, empty, numb or dead in some way. They may have a question about life that is spiritual or existential in nature. Or they may like to engage in general explorative work. There is no right or wrong topic to bring and I can help you to explore further. Therapy can help to create shifts, movement and new energy that did not previously feel present or possible.

I am registered with AXA PPP Healthcare, Aviva, BUPA, CIGNA HealthCare and Vitality Health Insurers.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc Psychology degree (BSC Hons) and a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (CPsychol). I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as well as being accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), where I hold full membership with their Division of Counselling Psychology. As part of my training, I undertook over six years of rigorous training in a wide range of psychological theory, professional research and clinical practice in order to become an effective and competent Practitioner. I practice under the HCPC’s code of conduct and the British Psychological Society's code of conduct and ethics. I am listed in the BPS Directory of Chartered Members and on the HCPC Register of Practitioner Psychologists. Perhaps it is as helpful and important for you to know that people who work with me describe me as being genuinely caring and warm, easy to talk to, calming and trustworthy.

For over fourteen years, I have provided short, medium and long-term individual psychological therapy to adults in a variety of settings. The majority of my work has been for the National Health Service (NHS) in Trusts in and around London. This has included working in Primary Care Services and General Practice Surgeries. I have also worked within Secondary Care Services with individuals who have more complex needs and histories of trauma. Examples of NHS Trusts I have worked for include: South London and Maudsley NHS Trust; Southwark NHS Trust; South West London and St George's NHS Trust; Kent and Medway NHS Trust; East London Foundation Trust. I also have experience of working for Essex probation service, in addition to a number of charitable organisations including Only Connect, Mind, Samaritans, Beat, Place2be and Brighton Oasis Project. I continue to work within the NHS alongside my private practice.
