Georgina Tidey PGDip MNCS (Accred)
I offer open ended long term and short term counselling from the Grey Door Clinic in Hove just off Blatchington Road as well as from an office in central Brighton. Both areas are served by many of the major local bus routes as well as metered parking.
I use an eclectic approach to counselling as my Post Graduate level training covered the many different theories of counselling and their uses.
All theories aside, over the years I have found (and much research suggests the same) that no matter the issue, be it depression, anxiety, panic attacks, relationship issues, or indeed any of the other many reasons people turn to therapy, it is the therapeutic relationship that develops between myself and my clients which makes the real difference to the work and to you as the client.
I will work with you to build a genuine, trusting, consistent and safe relationship where I hope you will feel able to share and explore thoughts and feelings that may have otherwise felt to difficult to look at.
Building this relationship and taking a journey through difficult issues is a commitment and takes time, when we meet we can establish a set day and time for our sessions which, will offer you consistency and the knowledge of when that precious time for you to explore yourself each week will be.
Finding the right Counsellor
I understand that finding the right counsellor can be difficult and believe that finding a counsellor with who you feel you can build a trusting and safe relationship with is also essential to getting what you need from therapy. It is really very normal for clients to meet with 2 or 3 counsellors before making a decision on the right counsellor for them and you may wish to do the same thing.
On this basis I offer an initial session free of charge where we can meet and talk through the issues that are troubling you, allowing space for you to ask me any questions you may have with a view to giving you a clearer picture as to whether or not I am the the right Counsellor for you.
Questions/Getting in touch
If you have any questions at all about the Counselling Services I offer please fell free to call, email or use the live chat service on my website (which links directly to me when I am online) and I will do my best to answer them for you with absolutely no obligation to book a session.
I wish you the best of luck in your search for a Counsellor.

I am an Accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS), I adhere to their code of ethics and complete all the required personal development as required to maintain my Accredited status. I am also registered with the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register.
You may be more familiar with Counsellors being registered with BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy). The National Counselling Society is simply an alternative accrediting body designed to keep you, the client, safe and to work with counsellors who are committed to working ethically and safely.
I joined the NCS rather than BACP as I found them to have an excellent structure for taking care of clients, details of which can be found on their website.
