Dr Georgina Elliott
I am a doctor of counselling psychology (DPsych) and have also trained in therapeutic counselling (PGDip). I practise from an integrative framework, which means I am informed both by cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic theories about people. This means that I can work in short or long-term therapy, with any psychological difficulties that my clients present with.
I work with many clients, experiencing a wide range of psychological problems, including depression, social anxiety, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder. I also work with clients who say that their problems stem from relating to other people. This might be with family members, in romantic relationships, friendships, or people at work.
The way I work is unique to each individual client, and is dependent on their particular difficulties and needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked in mental health services for over ten years, and been employed by the NHS for six years. I have experience in a variety of contexts, from primary care psychology services, to community mental health teams, forensic services, and hospital psychotherapy departments. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and The British Psychological Society (MBPsS).
