About me

After originally studying Psychology, I then specialised in Counselling, becoming qualified in 2014. I have worked for Mental Health charities, mainly focusing on depression, anxiety and addictions. I currently split my time between seeing private clients and leading a team of counsellors for an international online Mental Health service that works closely with the NHS, the Armed Forces and many Universities.

My training covered Person Centered, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Relational and Transactional Analysis approaches.

About my approach.

The therapy process starts with us talking openly about the difficulties you have been through, your background and everyday struggles. From there we work together to consider positive steps forward, while also delving deeper into any persistent issues that need attention. I believe that through confronting issues in a supported and structured way we can get stronger and make steps towards a life that works better for us.

Working from a Counselling Room in my home allows me to be more flexible with sessions than others.  While weekly sessions are often the best way to start, I can also offer sessions every 2 or 4 weeks or simply arrange one-off sessions as needed.

My cancellation policy is simple, provided I am given at least 24 hours notice by email or text, I will not charge for the session.

My location on Down Hatherley Lane is private and peaceful with plenty of off road parking.  It's a short drive from the centers of Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Gloucester.

Your next steps.

Simply get in touch with any questions you have. I do my best to make the process straight-forward and stress free.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

George.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
