Profile
Specialising in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), counselling, short and long term psychotherapy for individuals experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, stress, phobias, bereavement, loss, low self-esteem, eating disorders or other forms of psychological distress and life difficulties.
About Me
I have worked within care and mental health services in the NHS for a number of years with different client groups; with adults living in the community experiencing mental health difficulties, based in GP surgeries and local mental health services, and as a staff counsellor in a London hospital, supporting healthcare professionals with mental health and work-related stress to increase coping skills and manage the various demands of work and home.
My counselling approach
I have completed specialist training in the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy model - an evidence based treatment for many mental health issues. CBT is a useful means of understanding how problems develop and continue, and provides helpful strategies to manage and overcome them.
When seeking counselling however it is important to find what is helpful for you. As a therapist therefore my approach is flexible and approachable, and I work integratively drawing on different therapeutic models depending on your unique needs and difficulties. I have relevant training and experience in person-centred, psychodynamic, solution-focused and systemic models of working, and feel each have merit in offering helpful ways of understanding different experiences and difficulties.
