Gayle Grainger - UKCP Registered Counsellor - BSc (Hons) Integrative Counselling
4 Broad Street

I am a UKCP registered counsellor providing professional and friendly counselling. I am passionate about the benefits talking therapies can provide people struggling with difficult life events, relationships and traumatic experiences. I provide both short term and long term face to face counselling and seek to provide a safe and trusting environment where you can feel relaxed and at ease to explore the difficulties you are currently facing.
Counselling provides a regular space for you to talk confidentially about the difficult issues that you find yourself faced with. Sometimes you are aware of how the changes in your life may have impacted you and have an appreciation of why life may feel difficult – a bereavement, the breakdown of a relationship, financial difficulties, work issues, redundancy, past abuse or trauma to name but a few. Sometimes however you may experience a change in yourself, maybe depression, anxiety or panic, and be unsure of the reasons for the change in your ability to cope. In both case counselling allows space to explore.
Talking confidentially to someone who is not part of your family circle or friendship group can offer fresh perspective and reflection on your situation. I will not judge or advise you but will offer an empathetic ear to understand what it is like to walk in your shoes and provide a relaxed setting that allows you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours safely. The process of counselling often leads to new insight and self awareness and in turn can often lead to much wanted change in you, your relationships and your ability to cope with life and to begin living it again.

I am a volunteer counsellor with Cruse Bereavement and have a great deal of experience in working with people who have suffered bereavement and loss.
I have also been a volunteer counsellor for Mind Cambridgeshire working with clients with a wide range of mental health issues and supporting clients with the impact this has had on themselves and their relationships.
I started a placement with Relate Leicester in March 2017 working with couples and individuals with a range of relationship issues. This forms part of the Relate training I am currently undertaking in Relationship Counselling. I hope to provide couples counselling later in 2017.
Particular Areas of Interest:
I am particularly interested in working with people who may have found themselves in the position of becoming a carer to a family member. Often the focus of care and concern is on the person whose circumstances may have changed, maybe via illness or a life changing event, and all too often the carer is left with little support, emotional/physical respite or simply some time for themselves. The dynamic between a couple or between family members may change to one of patient and carer and this can have a significant impact within relationships often bringing about difficult feelings or isolation that may go unvoiced - counselling can provide a much needed space to have a voice, explore these feelings and feel supported.
All sessions, including the first session, are charged at £30.
