Profile
I am an experienced and qualified counsellor, and an accredited member of the BACP. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you are free to explore any issues and problems you have.
As well as exploring present difficulties, counselling is also a place for growth and development. I believe that ultimately the clients know themselves best; my role is is to help you get in touch with your own inner wisdom by offering a place where you are valued, really understood and not judged. From this place you can make the choices that will allow you to reach more of your potential. You can begin to become more of who you really are rather than what others want you to be.
My approach is flexible and will depend on the needs of the client. I use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) to look at how our thoughts and beliefs affect how we feel and behave. I also use mindfulness and relaxation techniques to help you come into the present moment.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I trained at the Metanoia Institute in West London, gaining a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling in 2002.
More recently I have trained in CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) at the Dartmoor Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy in Newton Abbot, gaining a Diploma in Creative CBT
I also have a certificate in Stress Management from The Centre for Stress Management
I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and follow their Ethical Framework
I have been working as a counsellor in private practice since 2004. I also work for the NHS as a stop smoking counsellor

My fees are £35 for a one hour session.
I offer some concessionary rates of £25 for people on a low wage
Further Information
I offer short or long term counselling depending on the needs of the client. This can be discussed at the first session, which is an opportunity for you to see if you would be happy to work with me, and to ask any questions.
I work from Dartington Space, which is close to Dartington Hall, and about a mile from Totnes. There is ample parking.
