About me

Do you often feel anxious or depressed.  Are you struggling with relationship issues or generally feeling sad?  If so counselling is a way of talking through your difficulties in a safe, non-judgemental space, where confidentiality is honoured.

I see counselling as a bridge between client and therapist providing a safe place to help you  find new ways of coping with issues affecting your everyday life. These could be specific personal and/or relationship issues. Emotional distress can be as painful and debilitating as physical illness, yet often people stay silent and ignore their emotional pain.  Everyone deserves to be heard; to have a safe place where they can voice their fear, pain or anxiety; issues that may be affecting their happiness and well-being.

I understand what it's like to face difficult personal challenges and if you have reached that point of asking for help then you have taken the first step across the bridge to look at changes to improve your present and future happiness and well-being.

I offer a warm, friendly approach; my service is confidential and I guarantee sensitivity towards whatever issues you may be facing.

Psychotherapy or counselling sessions can be helpful in many aspects of life. The process is not about me giving advice or supplying you with an answer, but a supportive process for you to explore and find your own answer. The process of talking to someone who has no personal agenda in your decisions or areas of change can help with the issues that bring you to counselling.

My practice is in Kings Langley with easy parking.

For more information about me and my practice, please feel free to call me on 07739 160151 or send me an email to gail@kingscounselling.co.uk. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I trained at the Metanoia Institute in London and hold a Clinical Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling. As part of my Continuing Professional Development I attend and participate in various courses and on line events.

Work Experience

Whilst running my private practice I have also worked in the voluntary sector providing low cost counselling. I have also worked as an Assessor at Metanoia for a year as part of a Practitioner's Certificate In Assessing.

Previous Work Experience

Prior to training as a Psychotherapist I helped run our successful family quantity surveying business for over 25 years. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
