About me

I am an Integrative/Psychodynamic counsellor and supervisor, accredited with BACP, with over 25 years of experience working in private practice, the NHS and other organisations.

Life can feel difficult at times and problems can appear overwhelming, and it can be useful to talk to an independent professional in a safe, non-judgemental space, where issues can be explored together in a collaborative process over a period of time. We all have unique experiences and, with my approach, I draw on a variety of therapeutic models and adapt to best meet the needs of my clients. I have a warm and emphatic style and hope that this enables people to feel at ease.

My background is in music and I have a particular interest in the Performing Arts and Education and workplace issues.

My private practice is based in Forest Hill SE23,on the borders of East Dulwich, near to the Horniman Museum, and is close to public transport. Buses  stop nearby and the nearest Rail station is Forest Hill, about five minutes' walk away.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained initially at Goldsmiths,University of London, qualifying in 1998.

2013 Post Graduate Diploma in Supervision ( Inter-Psyche)

1998 Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling (Goldsmiths, University of London)

1996 Certificate in Counselling (Goldsmiths, University of London)

1977 Post Graduate Advanced Study (Royal College of Music)

1976 BA (Hons) Music (University of Exeter)

1975 ARCM (Cello teaching Diploma)(Royal College of Music)

I worked as as the Staff Counsellor for the London Borough of Bexley for 15 years until 2013 which greatly informed my knowledge of workplace issues. I continue to work for IAPT as a supervisor , and for a number of EAP's.
In my private practice I work on a short or long term basis with individual clients. This is discussed at the initial assessment session and is open to revue during the process.

I am Accredited with BACP and am a member of the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I am qualified supervisor and work with individuals and groups in a variety of settings.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
