I am an accredited counsellor offering supportive confidential help with a wide variety of issues. I work in a quiet location on the northern edge of the forest seeing adults of all ages and I offer short solution focused help or longer term therapy if that would be helpful to you.
I can help with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, work based issues and many other problems and our work will be tailored to your individual needs in weekly or fortnightly sessions lasting one hour, with supportive, non judgemental feedback from me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am originally trained as a nurse, working in the NHS in a variety of hospitals in the south. In 1999 I began training to be a counsellor, qualifying in 2003 with a diploma in psychodynamic counselling from Salisbury college.
I worked at Southampton University counselling service before going on to become a primary care counsellor with Hampshire psychology services, (part of Hampshire partnership NHS trust). In this role I was responsible for counselling of all patients referred in 4 general practices around the Southampton area. I continued training with psychology services in several subjects including cognitive behavioural therapy and post traumatic stress disorder.
Since leaving the service I have worked privately in Romsey and the New Forest and undertaken further training including relationship counselling for couples.
I have experience in helping with a wide variety of issues, in particular anxiety based problems. I have worked with teenagers and adults of all ages.
