I am a fully qualified, BACP registered, Counsellor and Relationship Therapist, passionate about helping people find a happier and more fulfilled way of life. I absolutely love my work and invest fully in providing each of my clients with an approach that best suits their individual needs. I work with individuals and couples who need extra support for a wide variety of reasons.
Many of us at some point in our lives find ourselves in a dark place where we cannot see a way forward. You may be struggling with depression, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, dissatisfied with your relationship or having difficulty communicating. I pride myself on offering a compassionate, non-judgmental and safe place to explore whatever your difficulties are. We will work through these side by side and in doing so move towards any changes you wish to make and help improve your general well-being.
Couples Counselling/ Relationship Counselling
I trained with Relate and have worked with many couples who have come to counselling for a variety of reasons including communication breakdown, affairs and infidelity, sexual issues, jealousy and insecurity, sexuality, parenting problems, continuous arguments, bereavement and life stage issues. I offer a neutral environment where I will help you both to explore and understand your problems and work through whatever changes you wish to make. It may be that you want to stay together or need support in being able to separate. Whatever path you choose to take, I will help you make sense of the thoughts, feelings and emotions that being in an intimate relationship can evoke. If you are coming for couples counselling, experience and research has shown it is most effective to have two individual sessions following the initial appointment and then come back together for the fourth session.
I have worked with many clients who have sought counselling for help with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger issues, sexuality, financial or work stresses, bereavement and postnatal depression. I use an integrative approach to my therapy which means I draw upon different approaches to provide a bespoke service to each of my client’s particular issues. The two main theories I have trained in are systemic and psychodynamic ideologies incorporating human sexuality and diversity. Often the problems we face as adults are rooted in childhood. I work with exploring the impact of all your life experiences to gain a full picture of your identity and help to work towards a happier and more peaceful way of being.
Adolescent and Children's Counsellor
I work as a young people's counsellor within a secondary school helping adolescents with a variety of issues including friendships, bullying, bereavement, self-harm, relationships with family / siblings, self-esteem, confidence, impact of divorce or separation.
I have also worked within primary schools helping children and families. I make use of creative techniques including play therapy, art and expressive techniques as a way to engage children in counselling.
I understand that the thought of coming to counselling can be quite daunting. It is a very personal experience and I believe that the most important part of the process is to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with. So please contact me for an informal chat so that you can ask me any questions you have about the counselling I offer and get a feel for whether I am the right person for you.
