Profile
Is something in your life not working? Do you want someone who will really listen to you, without judgment or trying to predict the outcome?
Do you sometimes think that no-one is really listening to you? Is there something in you that really wants to be heard, but never gets the chance? I can give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential space. I also use a special process called Focusing, which taps into what has never been consciously thought or spoken before. Through our sessions together, we can explore what is troubling you in a supportive environment, helping you to find resolution and more ease in your life.
I subscribe to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am guided by their code of ethics, as well as the British Focusing Teachers' Association (BFTA) code of ethics. Confidentiality is a key consideration and you can be assured of complete safety in the confidential space.

I have had many years of experience working with people individually as a Focusing Practitioner. I also have taught Focusing to many people, individually and in small groups. I run a five-weekend skills certificate course, over a period of several months. I also provide a two-year Practitioner training.
I have had counselling experience working in a busy Doctor’s surgery in a rural medical centre. I had a generic practice, working with Doctor’s referrals, meeting many different kinds of people and problems.
I have taught dance and my life experience has taken me to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, running personal development workshops, based on dance and meditation. I lived at the Findhorn Foundation, a centre for personal growth and spiritual development, where I experienced five years of personal development training, including the Essentials of Psychosynthesis, Gestalt dreamwork, Fundamentals of Co-counselling, international dance teaching, and The Transformation Game facilitator's training.

Further Information
The Focusing process adds a significant new dimension to your counselling session. After talking about your problem and expressing your feelings, you may feel that nothing has changed much. You already know all about what you have said, and yet there is more. You can feel it right there, in your body. It may be vague or subtle at first, and you may not have words to express it. Yet if you attend to this directly felt, sense of something in your body, with openness and curiosity, you find surprising new steps come, unbidden and not forced.
These steps, not of your own making, are always in the direction of healing and integration. They lead to more ease and flow in your life, and a greater resilience and capacity for living. You feel better after a session, even though you have been sitting with difficult problems. You have a clearer sense of your way forwards. Often there is a sense of gratitude for what came during the session.
The Focusing process makes what is vague more tangible and easier to work with, bringing new insights and ways forward.
