About me

I am a trained, qualified and experienced counsellor and therapist with more than 12 years clinical practice and a proven record of helping clients move towards change, growth and development. Clients are referred to me from all walks of life with a range of histories, challenges and difficulties. I work with couples, individuals and groups of all ages. I have extensive expertise in families, young people and children. I work with the terminally ill (including children) and their surviving family members, friends and colleagues.

I am a listed EDA West Kent counsellor with eating disorder expertise and a recommended therapist for Humanistic Integrative Counselling students and trainees. I am an active member of the UKATA Assessment and Accreditation Committee and am familiar with the requirements of professional learning and personal development.

I am a visiting tutor and trainer at numerous registered training establishments in the South East.

I am Founder and senior trainer and facilitator of ParentNet

In addition to counselling and psychotherapy I offer:

*ParentNet - a skills, information and shared learning group for anyone with children in their life. A safe and fun way to learn, share your ups and downs and realise there's no such thing as a perfect parent.

*training to organisations and businesses looking to understand their staff and client communications and behaviour. Utilising my experience and knowledge of Transactional Analysis has proved to be of tangible benefit to both profit and non-profit making enterprises.

* a wide ranging CPD programme for both qualified and student counsellors and therapists.

My private consulting room is suitable for those who wish to use creative and play-therapy resources, as well as offering a more intimate setting. My work is fully supervised. I have enhanced DBS clearance and professional indemnity insurance. I am a member of professional bodies: BACP, UKATA and EATA and work to the ethical guidelines of each.

My ground floor room is easily found by road (with private off-road parking) and by train (Frant station is a 3 minute walk).

In certain circumstances I am able to see clients at their home, work place, hospital, nursing home or educational setting.  An additional fee is charged to cover travelling costs.

You can find out more about me from my Facebook page: Fiona Hooper - Counselling, Psychotherapy and Emotional Support.

I work once a week from a private, ground floor room near Reigate/Dorking.

Further information

Measuring the success of counselling is not an exact science, but many agree that above all it centres on the relationship between the parties. I work in partnership with each client to best meet their individual needs.

These are some of the things some of my recent clients have said about their experience:

" She is like magic, my Fairy Godmother, because half way through I hated you then suddenly I love you again like I did before." (A - aged 11, following a session with his mother)
"I dream to become as skilful, insightful, empathic and potent as you are one day"
"I want to compliment college on the choice of lecturer. Fiona was a delight. She delivered her material in a humble, and clear way. I came away feeling inspired. She did it with grace and style (K - final year Counselling Diploma student)
"I can't sing your praises enough" (mother of 6 year old S)
"Thank you for the family session; this was very helpful and we all feel more united - a happier household"
"It helps me to know someone is there"
"J wishes she could see you for two hours...So pleased she can talk and trust someone outside the family which she would never do and has never done".
"I think you can help/guide our situation in the right direction"
"It has been an amazing time with you and thank you for everything! I will miss you very much!" (teenage boarder from overseas)
"I put it down to your kindness and expertise and in the ways that you helped me to understand why, how and what."
"Many thanks for guiding me out of the forest."
"Thank you for all the fun we had and the things we did together." (J - aged 6, with ASD)
"Thank you for all your help with C.  She has come a long way" (mother of 7 year old, C, with learning difficulites and terminally ill siblings)
"Thank you for helping me with my worries" (A - aged 9, with acute anxiety)
"Thanks to your encouraging support, patience, insight and guidance, I've managed to make some peace with the past, learned to deal better with the present and face the future with less anxiety."
"Thank you for helping me try to be brave.  I'll always remember what you've told me." (E - aged 11, with OCD)
"You have really enabled some very distressed children to gain awareness in safety so that they can move on."
"I am really going to miss you" (O - aged 10.  An selective mute who started to speak after our work)
