My name is Fiona Cameron. I have over 20 years experience as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with adults of all ages and I am able to offer you a safe setting and confidentiality. I live and work in Brentford which is easily accessible by South West Rail, the Piccadilly Line tube and bus routes H91,65 and E2. There is street parking.
I am in easy reach of Isleworth, Kew, Ealing, Northfields, Gunnesbury, Chiswick and Hanwell.
My clinical orientation is Psychodynamic which is a modified and practical form of Psychoanalysis that tends to focus on more immediate problems. It is shorter term and less intense than Psychoanalysis and it involves looking for links with the past for a greater understanding of your current problems. The length of therapy is determined by the nature of your difficulties and this would be discussed in an assessment session.
There are many reasons why people try therapy. They may be disappointed or puzzled about themselves or have discovered endless repetition of the same unhappy experience. Life may be confusing and uncertain. They may be facing loss or separation or feelings of anxiety, fear or depression.Acute or chronic illness may have affected your life or you may be a carer feeling the strain of looking after someone.
One thing clients have in common is that they want to feel better.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a breadth of experience working in hospitals and in the community as part of a Primary Care Team taking referrals from Doctors mainly but also a wide variety of professionals. This was short term work of 6 sessions which I'm still happy to offer subject to it being an appropriate treatment. I have also worked in the private sector and in the field of mental health and Industry.
I've traveled extensively and lived and worked abroad in countries with very different social, economic, political, cultural and religious beliefs. This experience has contributed greatly to my appreciation of diversity and improved my understanding of the pain and isolation of living in a foreign country and feeling you don't belong or are not welcome.
I trained at WPF therapy one of the leading training organisations in the UK and I hold a BACP accredited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy qualification from WPF London. I also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Supervision and I supervised students in my training organisation for some years and privately.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I'm interested in working with adults of all ages and offer both long and short term work. I do try to get as clear and as full a picture as I can at our first meeting and do this by asking you about yourself and it can be quite surprising what that brings to light.
I would also want to know what you are looking for from therapy and address any reservations you have and explain more fully my way of working and what that entails.
Having a clearer picture in mind I would be better able to figure out how best to help you and should we agree to work together practicalities would be discussed.
My fee is £35.00 - £50.00
As a member of my graduate body The Foundation of Psychotherapy and Counselling ( FPC) and MBACP (Member of the British Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling) I am bound by their respective Codes of Ethics and Practice and subject to their complaints procedure.
Admitting you need help takes courage and honesty. The first step is to pick up the phone or e-mail me to request an appointment or further information and to check availability.
