Profile

I am an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist who is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abides by their code of ethics.

I work with families, couples and individuals - of all ages and sexual orientation - on problems of identity, relationships, breakup and loss. Unresolved issues from the past can hinder people from living fulfilling lives in the present - exploring the roots of these in childhood can liberate energy for living and create new freedoms for the individual and the whole family.

I can also help with families that are taking in new members (through step-parenting, fostering or adoption) where new understanding and agreements need to be shared aloud. Counselling can also be effective in adjusting to life with teenagers.

If you or a family member have received a psychological or medical diagnosis (e.g. Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, bipolar disorder) I would be interested in working with you. All my experience with such clients to date has shown that a label is never the end of the story: people need time to discover how they, as unique individuals, experience the diagnosis and how they and their families can come to terms with it.

My style of working is contractual - both you and I make clear agreements about your desired outcome and my capacity to meet your needs. If I cannot help I will try to refer you to someone who can.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I am fully qualified and have eight years' experience as a Relate counsellor as well as extensive experience as a schools counsellor at Primary and Secondary schools in Leicester and Loughborough. I can also offer supervision of individuals and groups.
