My consulting room in the West end of Folkestone is in a quiet location near Sandgate and close to the Leas. I offer a secure and confidential setting in which to talk about whatever issues may be troubling you - for example: anxiety, depression, repeating patterns of behaviour, relationship difficulties, loss, long term emotional problems, or a lack of fulfilment or meaning in your life.
I have experience both in private practice and in the NHS, working with individuals from very diverse backgrounds with a wide range of issues. I am registered with The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and accredited with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Taking the first step can be daunting. Please feel welcome to telephone me or send an email with any queries you might have. If you decide to proceed I will then contact you to arrange a time for us to speak for 10-15 minutes on the telephone. This is so that I can get an initial impression of what you are looking for. An appointment can then be made for the first session, or it may be that I can advise you on where to look for help that better suits your needs.
I initially meet clients for one or two sessions to explore their difficulties and to think about what may best facilitate change and growth before agreeing to begin the process of counselling/therapy.
Sessions are normally 50 minutes long.
The counselling process requires a commitment to weekly sessions and we would agree a regular time to meet on the same day each week.

Private Practice Work
I have a well established private practice in Folkestone where I see adults of all ages from very diverse backgrounds and with different life experiences.
I have spent several years with the NHS in both Secondary and Primary Mental Health Services. I have worked with individuals referred through their doctor or Mental Health Teams, who may have complex and enduring mental health issues. Currently, I also see NHS patients for short term counselling, referred through Dover Counselling Centre.
I work with Dover Counselling Centre as an Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) Counsellor, (for people whose work provides them with some counselling). I see people for short term counselling with issues that may relate to their work and/or to their personal lives.
Canterbury Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre.
I worked for more than 6 years with Canterbury Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre as a private practitioner. People came to me from the local community seeking help with a wide variety of issues and difficulties.
University Student Counsellor
I have experience of working professionally with young adults in a university setting. For young people the transition to maturity can sometimes feel overwhelming. As a student counsellor I worked with a wide range of cultural diversities; learning difficulties; relationship problems and mental health issues.
